Basically, Japanese Compulsory education are elementary school(6 years from 6 years old) and Junior high school(3years from 13year old). Children who has Japanese nationality must take this education. However it is not compulsory for children who don’t have Japanese nationality. If his/her guardian hopes to give their children this education, they can take the education as well as children who have Japanese nationality.

Elementary school

Admission for elementary school is intended for children who become 6years old by April 1st in that year. Elementary school where your address is located in send a Guide to School Admission to their guardians who have children reached the school enrollment age. After you receive it, please take health check at the school. If you ask to transfer, please contact Ena Board of Education, school section Tel 0573-43-2112

Junior High School

Admission for junior high school is intended for children who become 12 years old by April 1st in that year. The notice of admission for junior high school are send children who are graduated from elementary school by 31st January. If you ask to transfer, please contact Ena Board of Education, school, section Tel 0573-43-2112.

Kindergarten/Nursery school

Kindergartens are schools that educate young children from 3years old to the age of elementary admission and it’s not compulsory.
Nursery schools are institutions for young children from 0 years old to the age of elementary schools. It is provided for the guardians, parents or family cannot take care of the children during daytime.

School expenses

At public elementary and junior high schools, school expenses(admission fee, tuition, textbooks) are free. However, you must pay other expenses such as lunch fee, school supplies other than textbooks, school trip and excursion.

Transfer

There is school district system for public elementary schools and junior high schools. If a child moves to other school district, the school that he/she goes is changed. You must declare your child’s transfer the school and receive necessary documents from there. After that, please apply for your address change for your alien registration card and school transfer at Ena Board of Education.
