Traditional culture passed down
from generation to generation.

受け継がれる伝統文化

Ooi, which flourished in the Edo period as one of the post towns on the Nakasendo, the mountain road that connected Edo (Tokyo) and Kyoto, still preserves its olden day atmosphere at every turn. Furthermore, various festival rituals dedicated to gods such as Taiko (Japanese drums) and Shishimai (Lion Dance) have been passed down to the present generation, as well as traditional performing arts including local kabuki.

Live with history
歴史とともに生きる

Remains of 700 year-old Iwamura Castle and the atmosphere of the Edo era (1603-1868) preserved in its castle town. The nostalgic feel of the Taisho era (1912-1926) in Japan Taisho Village. Ena City offers plenty of opportunities to explore historical Japanese culture.
